About Us

About Powderhound MarketingPowderhound Marketing began in 2007 and is based in Park City, Utah, but works with clients of all sizes throughout the country. We run the company as a husband and wife team and occasionally work with subcontractors and partners.

What is a Powderhound? The name of our company has a dual meaning. It refers to our passion about skiing wild powder snow in backcountry locations throughout the American West, and also refers to our “silent partner” Denali, who is a Siberian Husky. He is pictured to the right enjoying a snow nap.

Charitable Giving: We strive to be responsible corporate citizens. Powderhound donates a percentage of profits to not-for-profit (tax designation 501(c)(3)) organizations. We allow our clients to choose from a list of charities, including:

Green: Powderhound Marketing is an inherently green business and consumes little resources simply due to the nature of our work. Still, we strive to further reduce resource consumption and we purchase renewable energy credits to offset energy consumption and travel.

About the Powderhounds:

Heather Fornataro: Heather earned a B.S. in Mathematical Economics from Wake Forest University, and has over eleven years experience in online marketing. She began her career in several positions within the online marketing division of Hewlett-Packard, and later managed the search marketing team at Backcountry.com. In 2007, she left Backcountry.com to start Powderhound Marketing.

Ed Fornataro: Ed earned a B.S. in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and served as an Army officer until 2005 when he retired at the rank of Captain. He also graduated from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of law with a J.D., and worked in various policy and law positions including the Utah Governor’s Office for Public Lands Policy. He left law in 2009 due to the success of Powderhound Marketing to dedicate his full time to the business.

Denali: Denali has no formal education, but has gained valuable marketing insight working alongside Heather and Ed. He retired from a largely unsuccessful job in sled dog racing in 2004 to pursue a career in couch-surfing and backyard excavation. Denali is responsible for inspirational leadership and “big picture” aspects of the business.
